Text Box: Text Box:                  The Lake Norman region offers numerous private and parochial schools in addition to its excellent public school systems.
                 Cannon School instills values into its students, including courage, teamwork, respect, integrity and passion.  The school enrolls students in junior kindergarten through 12th grade, including international students.  Class sizes are small, with a 1 to 10 teacher-to-student ratio.  Cannon even offers a sort of exchange program with its Chinese sister schools to help further students’ cultural experiences.
                 Chesterbrook Academy is part of Nobel Learning communities, which operates schools throughout the country.  Located in Huntersville, Chesterbrook offers small class sizes, enrolls students from 3-year-old kindergarten to second grade and believes in individualized teaching that appeals to each unique student.
                 Founded in 1995, Christian Montessori School at Lake Norman hopes to instill a love of learning in each of its students by allowing them to be independent, creative thinkers.  The school, which instructs students from 18 months to ninth grade, is located in Huntersville on 20 scenic acres.  Plans include expanding facilities and adding a high school curriculum.
                 Davidson Day School provides instructions for students in PreK to 12th grade, as well as a Montessori program for infants through kindergarten.  Davidson Day offers personalized learning that follows rigorous academic standards. 
                 For the 2007-08 school year, Davidson Day moved to a new 70,000 square-foot facility on the corner of Jetton and Griffith roads that is almost triple the size of the old building.  The new campus covers 15 acres. 
                 With the goal to provide an excellent education in a Christian environment, Crossroads Christian Schools offers its students the opportunity to develop their own skills while leading a Christian life.  Crossroads Christian School promotes excellence from kindergarten, where students are taught to write in cursive, to high school, where 100 percent of its graduating seniors are accepted into college.
                 Southlake Christian Academy in Huntersville offers a college preparatory curriculum with a Christian world view.  Its rigorous academic program has resulted in SAT scores that are 40 percent higher than the national average.  Southlake also offers student-teacher ratios in its classrooms ranging from 16:1 to 22:1.
                 Located just north of Davidson, Woodlawn School is spread over a 61-acre campus that includes the 1836 Woodlawn plantation house.  Woodlawn school is a private, independent, nonprofit school that offers rigorous academics and encourages its students to demonstrate initiative, responsibility and social awareness.
                 In Cornelius, Grace Covenant Academy instructs grades PreK to eighth grade.  The school provides a Christian environment, a challenging academic curriculum and enrichment programs including music, art and Spanish.
                 Saint Mark Catholic School in Huntersville opened in 2003.  The school is part of the Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools system, which includes eight Catholic schools.  Saint Mark Catholic School instructs students in kindergarten through eighth grade and provides academic, athletic and enrichment programs as well as religion classes.
                 Huntersville Christian Academy provides a challenging curriculum that is Christ-centered.  Founded in 1999, Huntersville Christian Academy offers small class sizes and a teacher and assistant in each classroom.
                 At Statesville Montessori School, students experience a ranges of enrichment activities, including field trips to experience the real world.  The school is located on two campuses approximately two miles apart.
                 Located on a 43-acre campus in southeast Charlotte, Providence Day School was founded in 1970 and instructs about 1,500 students in grades TK through 12.  Students at Providence Day are selected through a process that factors in previous school performance, recommendations, standardized tests and academic aptitude.
                 Charlotte Christian School enrolls about 1,000 students from more than 130 churches.  The school incorporates Biblical principles while encouraging a rigorous academic and athletic program.  Creative expression also is practiced through the fine arts.  The Lower, Middle and Upper schools have their own chapel schedules where they meet with their peers to further discuss their faith.
                 About 1,600 students are enrolled at Charlotte Country Day, with more than 100 from 30 countries.  Students and faculty have access to the Internet throughout the school.  Students use wireless cards to connect their laptops to the network.  Children from junior kindergarten to grade 12 give back to the community by volunteering.  Students help to collect books fro underprivileged children, conduct pet therapy with senior citizens and annually host the Special Olympic spring games.
                 With high expectations for its students, Charlotte Latin appoints each student a learning resources coordinator and guidance counselor to help with the transitions through each level.  Within the Lower, Middle and Upper schools, the students’ involvement is important to their advancement through each level.  Students learn the fine arts, the power of languages, media and technology, along with their regular education curriculum.
