12/08/09		 Animal Control Ordinance Adopted

Changes to the ordinance were adopted last night. Highlights are:

  • Adoption fees for dogs $95 and cats $85.
  • Licensing in effect January 1, 2010 of $20 for neutered animals, $50 for natural animals.  An exception for seniors over 65 for up to 2 animals.
  • Required micro-chipping of all licensed pets. The Town will do this for $10.  This will better enable us to reunite lost animals with their owners

North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital has stepped up and will do the spay/neuter at a very low cost plus they will fully vet every animal prior to adoption.  The volunteers CASA have stepped up again and will contribute $38 to the costs of vetting each animal.  Thank you to both groups for continuing to support this great effort!

12/08/09		 Bringing Small Business to Cornelius

Bob Watson gave a short presentation about an organization that has been formed at the urging of Mayor Tarte to attract small businesses to Cornelius (Lake Norman Community Partners).  There is a website (www.discovercornelius.com) They have already attracted four companies to relocate here.
